Steak with Coffee Chocolate Sauce
  • Preparation time: 5 minutes
  • Cooking time: 40 minutes
  • Serves 4

INGREDIENTS 

  • 4 x 300g frying steak of your choice
  • Salt and pepper, to season steak
  • 1 tbsp oil

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion, halved and sliced
  • ½ cup red wine
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup liquid beef stock
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 x 8g square of Ola Pacifica Coffee Chocolate, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to season sauce

METHOD

  • Season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Heat the oil over a medium to high heat in a non stick frying pan or skillet and cook two steaks at a time to your liking (approximately 3-4 minutes per side to cook medium rare).
  • Once cooked, remove from pan and let the steak rest on a warm plate while you make the sauce.

Make sauce:

  • In the same frying pan used for the steak, over a medium heat, add the butter and onion, and cook until onion is soft.
  • Stir in the red wine, brown sugar, beef stock and water and simmer for 8 - 10 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until sauce is reduced by half.
  • Stir in the chopped Ola Pacifica Coffee Chocolate until melted through.
  • Season with a little salt and pepper to your liking.
